Leaders of the Market Association itself have accused Delwar Hossain Dilu, president of Dhaka’s South City Corporation-controlled Zak Super Market, of embezzling crores of rupees from 1,400 shops.

On Sunday, the business leaders held a press conference against the misdeeds of Delwar Hossain Dilu, the chairman of the expired committee.

At the press conference, the leaders said that about 1,400 illegal shops in Fulbaria Super Market-2, Block-A, B, C (Jack’s Super Market) under the control of Dhaka South City Corporation have been evicted on December 6, 2020. Hundreds of crores of rupees have been snatched from these shops.

Earlier, the outgoing president of the market, Delwar Hossain Dilu, had demolished three open spaces, verandas, bathrooms, built shops and sold them to ordinary traders for lakhs of rupees and promised to allot shops permanently from the city corporation. But sadly, after a long time, he did not legalize the shops of the merchants.

“We, the traders, want an end to these problems,” they said. We do business with all the taxes of the city corporation including paying revenue to the government. The country is in a fast pace of development today. We traders want to be partners in this.

So our security is very important. Our guardian, a symbol of justice and honesty, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh has assured us that the representatives of the markets will be elected through a fair election and is thinking of rehabilitating the affected traders through the selected committee.

They further said that according to the schedule, the election was supposed to be held on December 6. But Delwar Hossain made Dilu a fake plaintiff and stopped the election through a High Court writ petition. However, the traders of Jaker, Nagar, City Plaza Market are now united. They are vocal against all the misdeeds of Dilu. In this situation, the Prime Minister, Mayor of Nagarpita Dakshin City Corporation, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, I am seeking the help of the ACC and the law enforcement agencies.
